Covid-19

St. Anthony Medical Centers has worked tirelessly to address the damage caused by COVID-19 on the communities of South Los Angeles and Compton, areas which are predominately of people of color. People in South LA are three times more likely to get infected with COVID and die at twice the rates of other parts of Los Angeles.

St. Anthony has been persistent in its efforts to ensure the residents of South LA and Compton have equal access to testing, care and treatment, education, and vaccination.

St. Anthony Medical Centers has been successful in vaccinating our health care workers, health care workers from other clinics and hospitals, and many community members who fall under the current tiers. We hope to be able to vaccinate and reach more of the population as we help fight against this deadly virus.

St. Anthony Medical Centers is committed to keeping you healthy. It is important to know that the elderly and those who have existing respiratory illnesses are more likely to become seriously ill. Typical Coronavirus symptoms are similar to the flu: fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. If you have any combination of these symptoms, please call St. Anthony’s now at 323.469.5555 to speak with a medical professional.

Clean your hands often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick, even inside your home. If possible, maintain 6 feet between the person who is sick and other household members.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Wear a facemask

  • Everyone should wear a facemask or face cover when they go out in public
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The mask is not a substitute for social distancing.

Cover coughs and sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Clean and disinfect

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
  • If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.
